The caveat, however, is that the new search is not compatible with all PCs. For now, it is set to only be available on Copilot+ computers. These are Microsoft’s new generation of AI-enhanced devices. Additionally, such PCs also have a Neural Processing Unit (NPU). This means it runs AI features directly on the machine and does not depend on the internet. As a result, it is meant to effectively show quicker results and enhanced privacy. 

Copilot Is Doing More Than Just Search 

At this time, Windows Copilot works seamlessly across Windows 11 and Microsoft 365. It assists in writing emails and creating images. Onwards, however, it can make searches such as “managed IT services providers near me,” even better. Using the NPU chip, Copilot interprets unclear instructions and provides practical advice. Additionally, it is also linked with OneDrive that helps you find cloud files easily.  

Currently in Testing but Will Be Rolled Out Soon! 

At press time, the feature is still in preview builds. That means it’s being tested on Copilot+ PCs and will likely roll out soon. In case the people on your team are using OneDrive, it will only get even better after it is launched. How about those who don’t have Copilot+ yet?  

No Copilot+? No Upgrade Yet 

If you do not own a Copilot+ PC, then this feature will not show up yet. However, if you’re planning a hardware refresh, this could be a strong reason to get one.
